Cocoa Butter Bath Melts

These are great!!! Thanks to CL for submitting this tutorial. To use the bath melts, fill tub with warm water, drop one in, watch it fizz as it releases the cocoa butter and fragrance! Relax and enjoy!

Dry Ingredients:

275 grams Baking Soda 225 grams Citric Acid 40 grams Cornstarch
20 grams Whole Milk Powder

Wet Ingredients:

80 grams Cocoa Butter 20 grams Shea Oil (liquid) 7 grams Fragrance Oil

The Process:

Start by gathering and measuring your ingredients.
Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Melt Cocoa Butter in the microwave. Do not boil.
Add Shea Oil and Fragrance to melted Cocoa Butter.
Combine oil mixture with dry mixture and stir till completely mixed.
Spoon into molds. I use candy molds that hold from 1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon. Any bigger than that may result in a slippery, greasy bath!
Pat into molds and put in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

After freezing, pop out of molds onto wire cake rack to dry. If left in the freezer too long, moisture may form on them when they are thawing and can cause them to "bloom".

Let the melts dry overnight in a cool dry place.
I wrap mine in foil candy wrappers for an elegant touch.

The foil gives them a bit of elegance, but isn't necessary.

Here's one used as a party favor. I wrapped it up using RJ's gold foil wrappers and micro-mini cello bags. I added a little curling ribbon to pick up the colors in the bag.
Here's another one of RJ's micro-mini bags. These make great basket fillers to for those empty spots that aren't big enough for an extra bar of soap.
